How to Choose Good Efficient Keywords??

Have you just started with SEO and not sure about choosing the ‘keywords’, then here it is for you – A keyword is a word or a phrase that are used to describe your website in short .

So why do we concentrate that much on “KEYWORDS” ??? Is it that much important???

Yes.. Keyword Analysis is the most important factor in Search Engine Optimization.

However, it is sad that most people don’t know to pick their ‘right’ keywords and use some keywords that vaguely describes their site or is too general for everyone. e.g. If you have a site that is dealing with ‘Web Designing’ and the site is describe about services like Web Application Development, Search Engine Optimization, Logo Design. Then you must use keywords like ‘Web Designing Services’,’Affordable Logo Designing Services’,’ Corporate Branding Solutions’, 'Web Designing and Development Company' so on..

As a matter of fact, it is easier to target Key phrases… its more efficient too… Because a person who is looking for web solutions will be using the key phrases ‘Web Designing Company Chennai’ or ‘SEO Services Jordan’ and not just ‘Web Design’.. its also good to add your city, state or country name with your keywords.

Here are some tips to choose “effective” keywords..

  • Be very clear about your site theme. By this you’ll be having what keywords are been used..
  • Join those keywords to form meaningful key phrases.. Keep in mind what type of key phrases your customers will be using..
  • Each page of your website should have one to three related keyword phrases that are site-explicit.
  • Your keyword phrases should be used all through your site content- where it makes sense –and also use it in the title tag and Meta tags. Don't stuff your keywords unnecessarily, because it is considered as spam.
  • Initially don’t target for more competitive Keyphrases
  • Also consider misspellings for your keywords. People many a times misspell while searching. Like ‘accesories’ instead of ‘accessories’ and so on
  • As a final point, check your final list on Google and in other search engines. Even though, this is too boring but this is important so that you can know if you can really ‘rank’ for those keywords!

Where do i start from??

The common doubt for all newbies is

“From where do I have to start my work???”

First of all, spend more time on your on page optimization…

It takes time to get your keywords in the first page of Google. So don’t jump from one traffic generation technique to another.

A fine plan is to focus on your SEO techniques at least for an entire month and sure you will see some changes. Even if your website is very new one, you can see some rankings in Google, yahoo and msn.

Page rank doesn’t give any important sense of your progress. Simple because all websites pagerank are updated by the search engines every couple months. You might already have some pagerank, but you can only see how much pagerank you have when search engines do a pagerank update.

On the other hand, you can see where you rank instantly. Whenever someone searches for a keyword in a search engine, the spiders put up the results with the best optimized websites at the very top. This is done each time someone searches something. That is obviously good news, there is no such thing as ranking update. If you merit the number one position, you are going to be there now.

There are several reasons why these thing work like this. But it is technical things that are not very important for us to know.

Checking how many backlinks you have is also something which many webmasters do the wrong way. First of all never use Google, because they do not show all backlinks a website has. It is recommended to use Yahoo or other search engines.

If you got a thousand links the past month, it does not mean you are going to see a thousand backlinks when you check how many backlinks you have.

For example, if you got backlinks from webpages that are not yet indexed, they will not show up. There is nothing to worry about here, but simple do not judge your progress by the number of backlinks you have.

You judge your progress by checking where your website ranks for your particular keyword. That is the ultimate method.

The motto is, have fun while doing SEO. It is worth doing, so why not have a happy attitude, it makes thing better. Getting the first keyword on page one or two in Google for the first time is very exiting. Probably once you master SEO you feel less exited when you get rankings. This is like making money online. Your first twenty dollars or the first sale is the most exiting.

Get started simply but effectively, [snip] suggests:

1. Optimize your websites: especially homepage: keywords, title, code, metas and internal links.

2. Submit to search engines:

3. Add some external links.

4: Update your website more frequently with original content.

These 4 things are most important and effective way to start SEO.

Off - Page Optimization

Wikipedia’s definition:
Off-page optimization are strategies for search engine optimization that are done off the pages of a website to maximize its performance in the search engines for target keywords related to the page content. Examples of off-page optimization include linking, and placing keywords within link anchor text. Methods of obtaining links can also be considered off-page optimization.

The Off-Page Optimization, in Search Engine Optimization usually refers to the strategies of link building to improve the ranking of the keywords.

In search engine optimization, off-page optimization refers to factors that have an effect on your Web site or Web page listing in natural search results. These factors are off-site in that they are not controlled by you or the coding on your page. Examples of off-page optimization include things such as link popularity and page rank.

Usually refers to link building strategies as an effort to increase ranking for content that in itself cannot sustain a decent ranking.

Don’t go for “Link Hunting”.. Because Search Engines will ban those type of sites..

Off-site optimization is certainly to be concerned with..

The more trustworthy inbound links you can get for your site, the higher you will appear in the SERPs.

Some of the OFF-PAGE Factors:
  1. Press releases
  2. Article distribution
  3. Social networking via sites like Digg and Slashdot
  4. Link campaigns, such as asking complementary businesses to provide links
  5. Directory listings
  6. Link exchanges
  7. Three-way linking
  8. One-way linking
  9. Blogging
  10. Forum posting
  11. Multiway linking
  12. Internet Marketing

With more and more websites being projectile daily, the search engines are more and more getting confined. So, if your site needs to get the eyes of interested readers, SEO is a mandatory.
In On-Page optimizing, we make changes on the pages or inside the website that affects its ranking on Search Engine Result Page (SERP). On page optimization is one of the key features of SEO. It is the basic step towards ensuring a high traffic to your website.

There are many factors that can determine an effective on page optimization. Some of them are discussed below:

These are some effective On-Page Optimization factors.. And guy if i left any points, plz post through comments..

Choosing the domain name – Use keywords in the domain name with hyphen (-) in-between keywords..

Using Proper Title & Keywords in the title tag.. Use 60 characters (~8 words) with no special Characters..

Good meta description – it is said that Google is not taking meta tags into consideration.. but why to take chances, use proper, relevant (words should appear in the body, otherwise it’ll be penalized for irrelevant) & keyword rich description.. and the limit is 200 characters.

Coming to the body, don’t stuff ur keywords in the body.. keep your keyword occurrence between 5 – 20 %

Add "alt" and "title" tags for all the images - Do NOT fill with spam.

So.. What is SEO?

As u know SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization

Wikipedia defines SEO as
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results as opposed to search engine marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion.
In simple words, SEO is the process of optimizing i.e., changing or modifying or enhancing your website or blog according to the criterias of the search engines in both on-page and off-page to get more traffic through them.

In more simple words, 'optimizing for the search engines'

SEO now..
Years ago, Search Engine Optimization was used to the site rank good in search Engines by just putting the keywords throughout the websites or in the landing pages.

But those were just the basics.

Years have passed, the search engines became more complicated, the public began to understand that search engine’s traffic alone is not equivalent to internet business success and so SEO started paying more attention to other things that were influencing online people behavior.
These days, it is general for a Search Engine Optimizer to pay attention to copywriting, web designing, usability and user-friendliness in addition to search engine optimization.

In fact, SEO has become a more emphasized approach to website’s optimization and promotion, keep a note that not only website search engine rankings, crawlability or traffic, but also conversion rates, customer retention rate and social marketing.
